Adware and spyware?
Does PaseoExpress contain any adware or spyware?
No. There is no adware or spyware in PaseoExpress or VisualPaseo freewares
Which platforms does Paseosoft support?
How do I drive my Information System's different platforms?
Also, do I have to install execution software?
Rather than execution platforms, we prefer to talk about execution environments.
There are two of them:
- .net version 2 environment
- and Java-compatible environment Virtual Java Machine version 1.4.1.
So the hardware platforms supported by Paseosoft are those that integrate either of these two environments. This is especially true of Microsoft Windows (.net and Java), Linux, Host IBM including AS400, and UNIX machines.
There is no need to install Paseo´s execution software on the addressed platform, because it is absolutely possible to administer it completely remotely using the Paseo system. This is known as remote or non-intrusive mode.
The scenario development workshop runs in .net. Paseo´s integration environment runs on all platforms with the command mode, as well as .net and java API.
Languages supported by VisualPaseo and PaseoExpress
The current versions of VisualPaseo CE and PaseoExpress CE are available in English and French.
How much does it cost?
How are Paseosoft products priced?
The Community Edition range of Paseosoft products is provided free of charge for non-commercial use. See Freeware Terms and Conditions
You must purchase PaseoAdvance Professional Edition or PaseoAdvance Entreprise Edition if you use Paseo to commercialise either a product incorporating our technology or a service based on our offering. For more information see: PaseoAdvance presentation
How are Paseosoft´s products developed?
What development languages are used by Paseosoft?
Paseo is developed on several platforms and uses many programming languages according to the target technical environments, and to technological constraints (especially from a performance standpoint).
Generally speaking, in Microsoft Windows, Paseo uses C# and Visual Studio 2005. Encapsulation connectors are developed in either C++, C#, or Visual Basic. The .net version used is: version 2.0
In Java, we most often use Eclipse for development and SUN´s Virtual Java Machine, version 1.4.1 for execution.
How do I use the different technologies in Paseo?
How do I use a technology that doesn´t have its own connector in VisualPaseo or PaseoExpress community edition?
First of all, you must be sure that the technology has not been built into the latest version of the software suite, or into the PaseoAdvance version. Next, it´s a good idea to submit the question by e-mail or forum post, because many connectors are not available online. Post your demand on Common Topics Forum
Furthermore, for technologies that are not yet encapsulated or proprietary, users can integrate it themselves, just as they could have without Paseo.
Indeed, when using our product, you can integrate these technologies and drastically reduce encapsulation time. We actually provide connectors that can be used to run third-party programs locally or remotely. These connectors handle problems with environment, rights, logs, error management, time-outs, etc. They can also be joined with others to perform an automatic analysis, of the log or of results contained in a database.
Can we drive our own programs or components?
Can I use my own developments in Paseo?
Yes - with Paseo, you can launch programs using the command mode, or components using WSH or another host (Version Advance).
You can also submit a component to us, which we might build in so that the community can benefit from it. In that case, use websupport@paseosoft.com
Technologies available in each environment
Not all the technologies available in the .net and Java are the same.
Although command mode (the ability to run an executable), ping and Oracle SQL+ are supported in both environments, the same does not apply for all connectors.
For example, Microsoft Word, Bu siness Objects and ODBC will only work in the .net environment, whereas ANT, JDBC or UNIX Syslog can only be implemented in Paseo's Java environment.
How do I display past executions?
Each execution generates a results file in xml format containing all execution information.
All these files are stored in: C:\Documents and Settings\<Login>\Local Settings\Temp\Executions. In the scenario designated by the menu "Display >Control Panel > List of Executions", you can list all past working logs, sorted by scenario.
Double click on an execution to visualize it in the execution monitor.
To display the working log that has been created the machine where the designer scenario is, just copy the xml file into a subdirectory of the directory: C:\Documents and Settings\<Login>\Local Settings\Temp\Executions\. Then you need to restart the designer scenario and select "Display>Control Panel>List of Executions" to access the contents of the XML file (by double-clicking on it).
Tracking versions of technologies
How do you track versions of technologies?
This is a daily problem for IT operators and developers.
Paseo does the following: it performs an encapsulation
- either in command mode (transparent in the interface),
- or using documented API according to options offered by the targeted technology.
Normally, all publishers ensure that their modes are compatible as versions come out, because otherwise, their OEM partners would be forced to rewrite their applications with each new version.
However, prior validation obviously must be done before migration. If there are problems, support can be notified. Paseo will then handle the request as quickly as possible and provide an upgrade of its component. Naturally, this component will then be made available to all customers.
These upgrades are, in large part, the product of the community and the exchanges that take place there.
Integrating new technologies
How do you integrate new technologies?
Paseo has developed an internal framework that supports all of its applications (development workshop, execution software, cockpit, etc.).
This framework allows all existing or new Paseosoft connectors to connect to it easily using an internal API. In this way, all Paseo applications can naturally and transparently manage the new connectors.
Change Paseo Designer interface language
Is it possible to change the Paseo Designer interface language?
The interface language used for Paseo Designer is determined by the regional and language settings configured in the Microsoft Windows operating system. To avoid compatibility conflicts with controllable third-party applications (involving decimal and thousands separators, etc.), the interface language is always the one specified in the system's regional and language options.
To change the interface language, you must exit the application and change Microsoft Windows' regional and language settings. When the application is run again, the interface will be displayed in the selected language. Paseo Designer is available in English and French as standard. If a language other than French or English is specified, the interface will be displayed in English by default.
In some cases, you may need to restart the operating system the first time that you change the Microsoft Window
Execution trigger conditions?
What conditions must be satisfied in order to trigger the execution of a process?
A process is executed when the following two conditions are verified:
1- The process is in "Standby" status
2- The execution condition has been confirmed
You can display and edit the execution condition by right-clicking on the process and selecting Properties.
Where do I report bugs?
How can I report any bugs that I find while using Paseo?
We appreciate your help, which will help us improve the quality of our applications. Please notify us of any bugs by sending an email to websupport@paseosoft.com
